Panda is one of the lightest and cheapest protection software against viruses and spyware available in the market. However, its protection leaves a lot to be desired. In testing, its anti-spyware performance was not so good as other programs, but if you're a not a heavy internet user it may work for you. The program uses standard signature-based scanning, which is supplemented by the genetic heuristic analysis in order to protect the computer from malware. One thing to highlight from this application is its real-time protection, since it scans every file on every access, even when you just open the folder that contains it. It scans all attachments arriving with POP3 or HTTP-based e-mail and any that go out via SMTP, just in case you send an infected file. Moreover, it also checks all files received via AOL , Yahoo!, and Microsoft instant-messaging clients.A great disadvantage of the program is that it simply deletes viruses and spyware that it can't disinfected, without offering the option to quarantine them. Fortunately, this version now allows you to schedule when and how often a scan should take place. The user interface is really easy to use and visually attractive.
